"why don't you want to be popular? you're just wasting your time!"
there are several reasons why, and it's upsides and downsides when it comes to popularity, and i'm here to list these and give detailed reasons and information about it. please be mindful about these because it takes a decent reading comprehension to understand all of it.
reasons. a lot of reasons. 1) huge levels of introversion, where i am preferred to be less popular most of the time and switch to extroversion whenever it's the time for that. 2) fandoms can be very weird. very weird at fact that, there is a lot of kids and teenagers with hypersexuality in their minds. this counts for proshippers, where they make controversial ships and most of the time, nonexistent ships. i mostly avoid these to prevent NSFW content, see my terms of use there. again, I DO NOT ALLOW THIS STUFF, AND I DO NOT HAVE THE CONSENT TO PROVIDE NSFW COMMUNITY CONTENT. if you're from TikTok (and somehow is a proshipper or someone who wants to cause chaos in every fandom), don't be mad about this as it doesn't affect me and you may get banned (or blocked) from The Hananezumi Project community. basically screaming at a mindful zen monkey as a lion, simple as that.
now, let's talk about the upsides. the upsides are simple; you get popular, more people will likely to see my work. more people means more community feedback. more community feedback means making a series. and that goes on until it dies out.
aside from the upsides, don't forget the downsides too. downsides such as getting overwhelmed by popularity, loss of confidence on popularity while anxious and mute, getting overwhelmed with requests (just like it did with the DM DOKURO request incident), etc. as a solo developer (only took the role as the programmer), this is horrible combined with my IRL situations and the lack of resources and money. i mostly do the bare minimum now, as the Time Will Travel development for Version 1.5d now almost takes a year, which was developed on June 2024 now it's almost a year old since it's released.
"why did the Time Will Travel development took too long?"
personal stuff and the undiagnosed ADHD activity. and a lot of Ren'Py parsing errors and bugs to fix while making some "if" statements too. fun fact is; the game has a lot of "if", "elif" and "else" statements, from checking the number for dynamic switching, to checking the value and see if the player validates or not. i took that programmer advice from PirateSoftware, thanks to that guy, and you can take a look at it. of course the game would bug out because of too much statements, but i can fix those (or delete them from the existence of the codebase) without problem.
"why are you only a programmer? isn't art and music important as well too?"
well duh, it is, but i can't make art and music as i quit for it's complexity. i only started programming as i found out that Ren'Py is easy to code with no time in it's Quickstart manual. i just don't have the time and capable energy to watch a 10-hour video about making art and music, as long term activity can harm my brain while fighting for it's life for energy to keep me up. i would sleep after 3 hours of activity, and i'm mostly nocturnal, which i sleep on daytime. for art and music, there are asset stores that i can use, but i'm not gonna asset flip the hell out of it and only make anything free as always. most assets have Creative Commons licensing, and some are Public Domain (aka CC0), so i had to abide by the digital law to prevent controversies.
(personal, Top 100 FAQ) "why is Azuki your #1 in your Top 100?"
that would be the same thing as Natsuki from DDLC, i'll tell you that. the responsible personality tells it all, though. really, just read through the entire story of Nekopara Volume 2 if you want some understanding with Azuki's personality, but that's not a personal recommendation by you unless you want to. aside from Azuki, there is a lot of characters that i like; take Vanilla as an example, or Onikata Kayoko from Blue Archive. i mostly like Vanilla as of today, but her place at 9th place doesn't affect much as the Top 10 is enough to be liked a lot. i have a huge interest with nonchalant or chill characters like Vanilla, and that includes my OC named Kyoko Tametani, but he's not in the Top 100 because it is my original character.
