read the rules here!
introduction
now, the webring wouldn't exist in it's "SFW-focused" nature, so these rules might clear some confusing things out in the way before registering. the rules are as followed:
terms of registration
before you register, do note that:
- ... there is no theming restrictions with your own website. it doesn't have to be themed or based around Needy Streamer Overload or The Ditzy Demons Are in Love With Me, just like this website's main theme.
- ... if your website is 18+, a warning will be placed in the index in order to make sure that they're not unexpectedly going into that website.
- ... you should not contain any homophobic nor bigotry content in your website. we're mature webmasters, not the "homophobia is tuff, twin" and immature ones. please respect one and another, there's no right NOR excuse for unnecessary hatred. (a cat with homophobia (eg. heterochromia) in it's eyes doesn't include here, it's a comedy bit, unless it doesn't unecessary ragebait anyone.)
- ... your website should be in Neocities. other sites such as Nekoweb might decline my webring images as i don't have a supporter subscription to sustain availability.
- ... you should place the widgets in it's viewable, appropriate pages. if i can't access it and the others, then the chain will break.
- ... any visual novels are fine, as long as it's ADV or anything that counts as a visual novel with a provided data by VNDB.
- ... you should apply the webring widget first. applying it right now will save me a hassle to recheck all of the available pages during the application.
rules about visual novels
since most of the visual novels are NSFW, here's something to follow with:
- visual novels MUST have a SFW variant/optional patches. NSFW-only visual novels such as Haru to Yuki aren't allowed here.
- visual novels that are heavily focused on child characters aren't allowed. this leaves an exception to visual novels with teen characters that are mistaken to be baby-faced (such as Nekopara and Koikuma due to Sayori's artstyle), as official sources will state them as legal teens or young adults. a mild focus is fine. a character that is old but younger in appearance (eg. Azuki) might not count. might; as in judgement for now, since we don't know if it qualifies here. the removal or addition of the visual novel liking will depend on how many it overscales the child characters than the teen characters, so in Koikuma for example; there's 8 characters, about 7 teen/adult characters in-game with only 1 child character (that appears to be older officially), so there's not much focus on there.
how to spot visual novels with optional patches
if you want to be more sure that your visual novel that you'll add has optional patches, we should go to VNDB first.
let's take Koikuma as an example. see that Censored Edition of Koikuma? that's the base game, and "18+ Adult Only Content" is the "optional patch" for Censored Edition of Koikuma.
so if you want your visual novel liking to be added, please make sure you typed their title in VNDB and check if they have a censored edition/base game AND an optional patch. failure to comply will not be added into the list nor be added into the NovelDex. do note that visual novels that are Japanese only may or may not include a separate patch, but sometimes, some visual novels may include the patch as paid DLC (eg. Nekopara and Koikuma patches), rather than bundling it into the Japanese copy of the game. keep in mind that the image above shows the English (aka. localized) copy of the game itself where it is regulated for worldwide release, NOT the Japanese copy. this is the reason why you should rely with VNDB for more game information, and how is this important in order to prevent confusing and complicated things during the application.
